The Third Generation High Feature, High Performance IP/Ethernet Switch- GreatBelt
Centec's third generation switch silicon CTC516x (GreatBelt) is built in 45nm technology. The new GreatBelt switch reduces cost and power to address mobile-backhaul, access, and enterprise designs. Compared with Humber, the new integrated packet processor and traffic manager increases throughput by 20% to 120Gbps. To reduce cost and power dissipation, the new chip omits table-expansion capability and the fabric interface. GreatBelt's large on-chip tables, however, support more flexible table allocation with up to 128K MAC entries or 64K IPv4 prefixes. The integrated TCAM supports 8K ACL entries.
GreatBelt comes with three different flavors, CTC5160 for carrier Ethernet and packet transport, CTC5163 for enterprise and data center, and CTC5165 for MAC aggregation. The chips inherit all features from Humber with added features for respective market segment.
